Description Transposition of Medieval Imagination in 19th and 20th Century Literature This article deals with the following questions: What are the relations between the Medieval and contemporary world? How are the Medieval ideas and concepts reflected in the period and later literature, particularly in the nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature? What are the principles and circumstances of the transposition of the Medieval view of certain relations into the relations depicted by later works of art. We will try to respond to the above questions through our analysis of the Medieval chantefable Aucassin et Nicolette, of a short story The Tale of Provence Love by Julius Zeyer, Czech late nineteenth century author, and through an analysis of the work by some twentieth century Czech writers and artists.
