Citation
Description Czech Republic is an area with very big density of population. There is also a long tradition of a strong pressure on streams, rivers and whole river landscape. Inconsiderate management had and still has an influence on amount and structure of woody debris. It was removed out of river channels in most cases. Woody debris we can find only in some river reaches in this time. Woody debris has integral ecological and morphological functions in these relatively natural reaches. Between rivers (river reaches) with highest amount of woody debris in the Czech Republic we can find Morava River, Dyje River, Lužnice River, Morávka River Černá Opava River. It is very important to study these rivers to disclose the significance of woody debris. The functions of woody debris alter with size and character of river.
