| Description | The paper deals with development experiences of the Indian state of Kerala within the context of development theory. After brief introduction to the theoretical concept of human development the state of Kerala is portrayed as a society with high level of human development achievements in conditions of low economic development. Different explanations of this unusual relation are discussed with concluding stress on the role of local political activism. |
