Citation
Description In the year 2009, it will have been 20 years since the communist totalitarian regime, which was based on dictatorship of only one political party, collapsed. The vast economic, political and social changes that took place in Czechoslovakia after 1989 have significantly affected all possible spheres of the life of society, which, of course, includes the Czechoslovakian system of law. The twenty year period of democratization of the Czechoslovakian and later the Czech system of law provides a sufficient room for pondering upon the outcomes of this democratization process. Therefore the contributors to this publication, which are mainly specialists on the field legal theory and legal practice, decided to outline the core changes of law and present the fruits of their work to lawyers mainly from abroad. On the account of the limited extent of this publication, it was not possible to carry out detailed analyses. Instead we concentrated on emphasizing the crucial changes that particular branches of law had gone through.
