Description The non-normative and unofficial collections of Roman law are the basis of the present conference paper. The work is dividend into two parts. In the first part, there are analysed two private collections that are known in our history as ius civile Papirianum and ius civile Flavianum. The second analysed period is the imperial Rome. The imperial constitutions and rescripts are the main sources of law. They were collected into two codes that were also only the private initiative and their aim was to make complicated imperial constitutions and rescripts more transparent. These collections are called Codex Gregorianus and Codex Hermogenianus.
