Description Since Czech and English educational systems differ, we have to be careful when translating Czech terms to English. Sometimes there are no equivalents for the English terms, simply because the English system does not know them (e.g. střední odborné školy, DiS or PhDr). Sometimes the translation may sound ambiguous and should be translated with an explanatory note, e.g. maturita as a final exam (equivalent to A-levels). Special attention is to be drawn to the distinction between American and British as two major English standards, historical aspects and political correctness
