Description The confocal microscopy represents non-invasive and semicontact examination of the human cornea in vivo. This method can also be used for the visualization of changes in corneal layers after photorefractive surgery. The aim of the study was to analyze short-term alterations, wound healing, scarring and nerve fibres regenerations after PRK and LASIK. The maximum of ultrastructural changes was noticed in epithelium and anterior stroma after PRK and in stromal bed and neighbouring stroma after LASIK. Regeneration of subepithelial nerve fibres was faster after LASIK.
