Description This talk presents results from the ELSPAC study, the longitudinal study on pregnancy and childhood. Using various statistical tools we analyse exhaustive sample of all children born between the 1991 and 1992 in Brno and Znojmo, Czech Republic, who attended institutional childcare in various intensity by the age of 3. On one hand we find no evidence to confirm the positive influence of childcare on childs cognitive development. This holds for all children in general as well as for children from stimulipoor families. On the other hand, we dont confirm apprehension, that too much non-maternal childcare harms children emotionally.
