| Description | This article deals with the 2009 presidential elections in Mongolia in the historical perspective. In the first part, article describes electoral system and Mongolian president’s prerogatives. Consequently we describe results of previous presidential elections. Then we introduce situation before election, choosing of presidential candidates, and the election campaign. In the next part of the article, we analyse election results on nationwide as well as regional level, including factors eventually account for election results. At the end of the article are outlined possible consequences of election for the development on the Mongolian political scene. |
