| Description | Glucose tolerance (GT) is getting worse with age. Lateral is worsening insulin resistance, decrease in physical activity, impaired quality of nutrition and loss of muscle mass, which leads to a change in relationship between adipose tissue and fatless tissue. Loss of muscle mass, the share is in the 7th decade of 30% in 8th even 40 - 45% the previous muscle mass. This leads to two serious consequences: 1 Smaller volume of muscle mass will prepare and store a smaller amount of glucose. 2.Increases the amount of total adipose tissue as a percentage of visceral fat. Intra-abdominal fat is metabolically active yet. Products of lipolysis leaving through the portal circulation directly into the liver and lead to an increase in insulin resistance. Deterioration GT starts after 5 decade and is the fasting blood glucose 0,005-0,006 mmol / l at the age decade. |
