Description Diabetes mellitus is one of the developed world to the most common chronic diseases and on this basis, it becomes a very serious global problem. Its occurrence in different parts of the world varies considerably. It is highest in Europe and America, particularly among Hispanic and black parts of the North American population, then the lowest in Japan, the Caribbean and Mediterranean. In 1990 were in developed countries 20 million, and in developing countries 60 million diabetics. In 2000 the figure doubled to 40 and 120 million diabetics. This increase is alarming. Enormous increase in the number of diabetics in developing countries is given shift in the nature of lifestyle, ie, with increased energy intake and reduced output. This concept is known as westernalization of lifestyle.
