Description The formation of child protection in Czech and Russia is explored through the dilemma child safety vs. family privacy and amplification of child protection actors. The history of child safety and family autonomy concepts is presented on theoretical and applied levels. The retrospective analysis of Czech and Russian child protection is based upon indication of shortcomings of child safety provision and family autonomy providing on different stages of child protection policy. The interdisciplinary approach permits to combine legal regulations’ evaluation with relevant cultural practices.
