Description Risk as the topic is deeply connected to the history of origin and development of social work. Risk has been even contextual condition of the origin and development of social work as the modern social institution, which had been developed as a profession in the USA and West Europe in 19th and 20th century. The task of social work was seen in the elimination of consequences of dramatic social processes which caused misgivings, feelings of risk and uncertainty. In the past 20 years in the discursus of social sciences was the topic of the risk renewed and enriched by the new accents thematized also in social work. In this contribution the authors deal with the concept of risk viewed as inherent aspect of social work. Based on 16 interviews with the social workers the authors analyse the presence (awareness) of risk in their activities. The goal of the contribution view the authors in the identification of sources of risk in social work and the understanding of experiencing of uncertainty and risk in activities of social workers in child protection.
