Description Invasive infections caused by filamentous fungiare becoming an increangly common complication in patients with varying degrees of immunosuppression. The most common and in fact the bestmicrobiologically documented etiological agent of such infections is the Aspergillus genus. Howecver, in the last decade representatives of the Zygomycetes class, possibly less common filsmentous fungi suchas fusaria, scedosporia and othersbecome increasingly important. This article seeks to present a comprehensive overview of invasive infections caused by filamentous fungi and their especially microbiological diagnostics.
