Description The article describes changes in the institutional framework in the Czech Republic after the year 2005, changes caused by the requirement to line up with other EU member states. In addition to these big incentives to change there are two more reasons resulting from the impact of the world financial crisis. Achieving the desired results of the changes mentioned above makes the right choice of suitable economic policy for the Czech Republic more important. Emphasis is put on assessing the Czech Republic in the area of loans to households with more emphasis on informal institutions, their specifics and risks attached to household making a decision on borrowing. It also indicates the current possibilities of measuring the quality of informal institutions in the Czech Republic and assessing their influence on the dynamics of adaptation to the EU.
