Description Scars formed subsequently after deep burn injuries cause not only aesthetic restrictions but also functional disorders to the patients affected. The extent of those complications depends on the type of the scars, its area and fepth as well as on the anatomical location, other associated diseases, the age, the healing length, endogenous and miscellaneous factors. Non surgical as well as surgical techniques have been introduced in order to mitigate averse effects of the above noted scars. Especially flat scars are prone to accompany the patients for thein lifetime. A signifiant stigma has been reported in children thus the need for their long term dispensary is obvious with a special focus on so called maturation phase of scars. In such cases the complex therapy expected to last for years takes into account preventive measures to avoid functional disorders. I tis only the aktive attitude towards the patients suffering from deep burn injuries which may significantly improve ther well being and quality of life as well as reduce the risk of so called social death.
