• Description: Publication deals with the study of historical and recent floods in Brno. After briefly historical development of the Brno City the recent physical-geographical patterns and historical changes in the Svratka and Svitava catchments above Brno are analysed. Based on systematic hydrological observations all significant floods from March 1888 are analysed. They are completed by detail information of older floods from the 16th century. Inundation areas and flood-protecting measures in Brno are presented.
