Citation
Description The chapter makes evident that in the Czech Republic, a significant increase in native speakers of languages other than Czech can be observed. Those in charge of the education system have not become aware of this fact yet, partly because of simply not including such questions in inquiries. Neither in the public opinion poll nor in school statistics, the first language or the colloquial language are surveyed, only the citizenship. An investigation at four schools in Brno which examined the overall language skills of the pupils, clearly shows that the Czech school has already become a multilingual one.
