Description Since 1990, the researches have shown that prisoners who attend educational programs are less likely to return to prison following thein release, the right kind of educational program leads to less violence by inmates and a more positive prison environment and improve the inmates capabilities for employment after being released. The aim of the present study was to examine inmates attitudes towards education. The participants were 85 inmates from prison in Kuřim. The research showed that inmates with who are not in prison for the first time, younger ones, married and dissatisfied with their education are more likely to participated on the educational activities in a prison, while the correlation between participation on educational activities and working activity was not confirmed by the data. The most popular educational activities in a prison is visiting library, while religious education or attending study programme is less frequent activity in prison.
