Description Inclusion of people with disabilities is a desirable social goal, which is emphasized in educational, social and political documents. Participation is used worldwide in many disciplines as a key indicator of inclusion/the extent of social inclusion and one of the components of life situations of people with disabilities. The instrument for measuring participation has not been developed within the Czech context, so far. Components leading to the participation measurement as it is defined in ICF are included, for example, in the measurement of the quality of life, for which a questionnaire version SF-362 was created. The aim of the paper is to summarize the debate over conceptualization of participation and the way of measuring participation and to present the research of prof. Heinemann, who created the way of measuring participation on the base of ICF classification.
