Description Root resorption of adjacent incisors caused by ectopically erupting canines is a well-known phenomenon. The purpose of this article was to discuss possible treatment methods in cases with severe root resorption. Three case reports are presented as examples of different procedures. All case reports describe the clinical appearance, radiographic evaluation and treatment procedure. The first case shows a treatment strategy involving the extraction of ectopic canine. Extraction of severely resorbed lateral incisors is depicted in the second case. The third case represents non-extraction orthodontic repositioning of the ectopic canine. CT examination was used for a precise diagnosis of root resorption and position of the ectopic canine. Indications, advantages, disadvantages and long-term results of three different treatment options are discussed.
