Description MMP9 from the family of matrix metaloproteinases (MMP) has a crucial role in processes of plaque formation, destabilization and rupture, and has been postulated as an important biomarker of acute coronary syndrome. Our results provide evidence that a higher level of circulating MMP9 is associated with worse EF, and AHF after STEMI treated by primary PCI and 30-days mortality. We found a significant association of TT genotype of MMP9 -1562C/T gene polymorphism with AHF, especially in male group. No significant influence of studied MMP9 gene polymorphisms on MMP9 levels was found.
