Description This paper analyses the legal regulation of the law of succession in Czech Civil Code 1950. Despite being enacted in the socialist epoch that were aiming to get rid of Roman-law-based provisions, it could not avoid stipulating the rule of Falcidian portion and the principle „Semel heres, semper heres“ („Once an heir, always the heir“). Neither provision was present in the previous regulation (Austrian Civil Code 1811).
