Description The activities focused on user information education have been observed since half of 20th century almost in all public libraries. However, each library realized these actions on their own, based on their experience, abilities and technical equipment, mostly without mutual cooperation with other libraries and introduced just their own back matter. Since the end of the 20th century public libraries have been changing, they provide wide range of services, work with new types of documents, their technical equipment is much bigger, but the approach to users – support of information literacy and training users how to work with information – is still the same, though it is important, basic and really inseparable from library work. Is a special section Sdružení knihoven ČR (SDRUK), which has been recently founded, able to do anything for user information education?
