Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Healthcare

The aim of the course is to introduce participants to the business principles that are changing the healthcare industry. The course shows how new technologies, startups and innovations are impacting healthcare delivery and how entrepreneurial approaches can improve healthcare services. The course is taught in English. The course is aimed at members of the general public with an interest in the subject and healthcare professionals with an interest in entrepreneurship and innovation.

What you will learn

- learn and practice on selected cases studies the process of entrepreneurship to improve the quality of health care and services,
- understand selected critical issues in healthcare entrepreneurship and innovation,
- comprehend the design and management of entrepreneurship in healthcare environment,
- identify and describe the key issues in healthcare entrepreneurship, such as opportunity identification, the entrepreneurial ecosystem including accelerators, the benefits of open innovation for the sector, and social entrepreneurship in healthcare.

Employment prospects

After graduation, graduates should be able to start their career as specialists in institutions dealing with the organization and financing of health services, as well as enterprises responsible for the production or distribution of health technologies.

Enrolment requirements

Completion of secondary education, knowledge of English language at a minimum level B2 and payment of the course according to the valid price offer.

Course contents, lectures, lecturers

Jeden individuální a jeden skupinový projekt a prezentace (formát a obsah bude předem dohodnutý v polovině výuky). Kolokvium o výsledcích individuálních a skupinových projektů, po němž následuje závěrečné hodnocení výsledků projektů. Prezentace (každá v délce 10–15 min) by měla být odevzdána nejpozději 2 dny před posledním společném setkáním, měla by být připravena k otevřené diskusi v hodině a k dalšímu posouzení a hodnocení.

Lecturers

PharmDr. Martin Višňanský, MBA, Ph.D.

Researcher, pharmacoeconomist and manager. He is the co-founder of the Slovak Agency for HTA (SLOVAHTA) and Slovak Pharmacoeconomics Society within the Slovak Medical Society. His main areas of interest are pharmacoeconomics and health technology assessment (HTA). He is an active member of ISPOR (International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research) where he represents Central and Eastern Europe in several advisory boards and committees.

PharmDr. Dominik Grega, Ph.D.

Assistant professor at the Institute of Applied Pharmacy of the Faculty of Pharmacy at MUNI. He is engaged in teaching and research in the field of HTA. He has practical experience from Pharm-In, where he deals with the methodological side of HTA and the current implementation and decision-making practice in Slovakia, as well as the preparation of pharmacoeconomic analyses. He is also a member of the executive committee of ISPOR Chapter Slovakia.
