Financial Mathematics (in Czech)

This course consists of definition of the subject, conceptions and methods, basic maths, which is necessary for understanding and defining models of forming relations of financial mathematics, such as simple, compound and continous interest, anticipathory interest, savings, pensions and credits. The course is drawn up to explain fundamental relations and individual expressions for the needs of other courses.

The main objectives of the course are the following:
  • understanding fundamentals of financial mathematics,
  • understanding principles of interest,
  • use of interest in fundamental areas of financial mathematics,
  • applying acquired knowledge to the related areas which are not discussed within this course.

What you will learn

- understand and apply the concept of time value of captal;
- make decisions on time-diverging cash flows;
- interpret an informative content of interest rate;
- apply variations of interest calculation: after-term and pre-term (linear, compound, exponetial, combined);
- understand the value of real and nominal capital depending on the form of taxation and price level;
- effectively work with the annuities on which the whole field of finance is based.

Course contents, lectures, lecturers

Výuka je realizována formou tutoriálů. Náplň tutoriálu vychází z osnovy předmětu. Výuka je založena na předpokladu samostudia. Na tutoriálech se řeší ilustrativní příklady z okruhu probírané problematiky. Výuka je založena na interakci vyučujícího a studentů. Společně jsou řešeny ukázkové příklady.

Kurz je ukončen písemnou zkouškou, která se bude konat ve zkouškovém období. Problematika zkouškové látky bude odpovídat náplni na tutoriálech a povinné literatuře. Úspěšné ukončení kurzu předpokládá dosažení 60 % a více ze zkouškového testu. 
Pro hodnocení výkonu účastníků u zkoušky platí následující klasifikační stupnice:
A = 92–100 %
B = 84–91 %
C = 76–83 %
D = 68–75 %
E = 60–67 %
F = méně než 60 %
