The Graduate Guide

How can I stay in touch with the university?

Set e-mail forwarding

Did you know you can use the university e-mail account even after graduation? You do not necessarily have to read e-mails in the information system. You can have all your e-mails forwarded to your private e-mail and not miss anything.

Make sure your data is updated at all times

Check the contents of your Personal page in the information system as it will look after your graduation. Do not forget to update your contact information in the event of marriage or new employment. It will help us stay in touch.

What changes should I expect after graduation?

What are the changes immediately after graduation?

Upon the final exam and once your grades have been entered into the information system, your ISIC card is no longer valid and the bonuses and perks attached to it are no longer effective – such as lunches or printing and electronic door locks, including the access to the CPS. The remaining perks (discounts in cafés or bookstores and the like) shall remain active during the period of validity of the revalidation sticker.

Other changes resulting from the successful or unsuccessful completion of studies include the deactivation of the reader account in university libraries and the termination of access to the university Wi-Fi, including the remote access to the EIZ.

Can I still go to the university libraries?

Upon the deactivation of the services attached to the use of the ISIC card your account in the university libraries will be deactivated as well. You can still go to the libraries as a graduate, only with a library card instead of the ISIC card; graduates may obtain one free of annual charges via Masaryk University Alumni Card.

Can I still use electronic information sources (EIZ)?

While a student can access EIZ from their own computers on a remote basis, graduates can only do so from fixed computers in the university libraries. They include paid information sources available to the faculty and students, which is why remote access is not available pursuant to the applicable licensing conditions.

What about the protection of my personal data?

What kinds of personal data does the university retain?

Pursuant to act number 111/1998 Sb. on Higher Education Institutions, Masaryk University is obliged to keep a register of students containing the relevant information on studies. If you were enrolled in a study programme, the information on your studies must be kept in the register of students within the information system for life. Similarly, we are obliged by law to make public all theses defended after 1 September 2006 including reports and records on the course and results of the defense (cf. Section 47b of the Act on Higher Education Institutions).

Upon the completion of your studies we can only retain and use your personal data in order to fulfil legal obligations and to pursue the legitimate interests of the university, or where you have granted your consent to the retention and use of said data.

Do I have access to my personal data?

You have been granted lifetime access to the information system where your personal data is stored. By doing so, Masaryk University fulfils its obligations arising from the provisions of Regulation (EU) number 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to the obligation to inform data subjects on the processing of their personal data, which includes giving data subjects the opportunity to exercise their right of access to the personal data and the right to data portability; which is why your student ID (UČO) and primary password shall remain functional. You can log in at any time and check your personal data, or set the privacy level as well as grant or withdraw the consent to processing.

Please check or edit your personal data and the settings of other services you use.

Can I request the total erasure of my personal data?

Pursuant to act number 111/1998 Sb. on Higher Education Institutions, Masaryk University is obliged to keep a register of students containing the relevant information on studies. If you were enrolled in a study programme, the information on your studies must be kept in the register of students within the information system for life, which is why a request for the total erasure of data from the information system shall be refused.
