The programme can be studied only as a single subject.

What will you learn?

The mission of the two-year master's program in Neuroscience is to prepare university graduates for independent scientific work or subsequent postgraduate education, particularly in the field of neuroscience. The aim of the program is to actively master theoretical and practical knowledge and skills that will enable graduates to navigate current issues in neuroscience research, independently design and carry out their own research projects, and further develop their skills in a doctoral program in Neuroscience at Masaryk University or other universities.

The Neuroscience program covers four main areas: theoretical foundations of neuroscience, research methodology, analytical tools and statistics, and academic skills (presentation, project). Emphasis is placed on the development of scientific thinking and the ability to obtain relevant information. The authorization will be held by the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University. The study program is designed as an interfaculty program in cooperation with the Faculty of Social Studies, the Central European Institute of Technology at Masaryk University, and the Czech Academy of Sciences. The interdisciplinary approach to the program offers students not only multidisciplinary theoretical training in the form of lectures and seminars, but also practical experience in various neuroscience laboratories at Masaryk University. An integral part of the program is the completion of a research project as part of a thesis and participation in relevant professional seminars organized by MU.

Master's programs in neuroscience are offered at most prestigious foreign universities, but this master's program has been lacking in the Czech Republic until now. The program is designed for graduates of accredited study programs in psychology, economics, sociology, natural sciences, and other related fields who are considering a career in experimental or clinical research, either in academia or in the private sector.
