The solution of the problem of post-war re-emigration and repatriation of Czech from abroad - especially in connection with the return of Czechs from areas affected by the Chernobyl disaster or from Kazachstan - has proved to be a topical scholarly probl em which has not so far been in the forefront of interest in Czech historiography. The project requires both a study of the course of re-emigration, i. e. the return of Czechs who befor 1945 were permanently living abroad and of repatriation, i. e. the r eturn of Czechs who were transported abroad in the course of the war. In particular the problem of repatriation has not so far been clarified by historical scholarship. In view of the state of the literature up to the moment, the study of primary sources will be of decisive importance, i. e. the study of archive documents stored in central archives in Prague and also possibly abroad.
