The project focuses on research of the culture of Czech school in its principal aspects and manifestations, and on the study of the relationship between the present culture of the Czech school, historical development of the Czech society and conditions f or the present social transformation. Results of the research of the category of school culture, which has not been systematically conducted yet in Czech Republic, has a crucial importance for looking for possibilities and ways to encourage schools in th e situation when their autonomy has increased and they are being given a great deal of control of their management and development. The project also concentrates on identification of inner and outer conditions for straight realization of changes in schoo ls and on formulating successful strategies of external support of schools in their struggle for the autonomous development on their own.
