This project concentrates on two parallel goals. The first one is to build an editing workspace at Institute of Computer Science of Masaryk University based on AVID Xpress software that will serve for production editing at ICS as well as at Faculty of Informatics. It will also serve as model editing workplace and educational equipment available for people from academia in Czech Republic.
The second goal is to develop efficient distributed encoding environment that utilizes distributed computing facilities of MetaCenter project and distributed storage capacities of DiDaS project. The resulting environment should work faster than real-time even when employing demanding image transformations (image size reduction, deinterlacing, denoising etc.) and converting resulting material using high-quality conversion.

Results

The editing workplace is available in the Laboratory of Advanced Networking Technologies that is a joint laboratory of FI MU, ICS MU and CESNET.
