An Analysis of Psycho-social Characteristics of the Czech Population from the Aspect of Gender.
The overall aim of the proposed project is to stimulate co-operation in interdisciplinary doctoral-level research in the social sciences on aspects of Czech society from the perspective of gender. The research project concentrates on the role played by gender throughout various life stages: the role of gender in child-rearing/growing up, the development of morality among male and female youths, sexuality and the process of coming out during adolescence for sexual minorities, the gender structure of attitudes towards safe sex among adolescents in an age of increasing HIV risk, the reconciliation of family and work. The combination of approaches from psychology and sociology should contribute new perspectives to discourse on gender in the social sciences. The participants intend to publish both independently and as a collective. To increase visibility, mobility, and support continued learning, the international doctoral team, based at the Schools of Arts and Social Studies at Masaryk University, has proposed extensive co-operation (research, conferences, and seminars) with other academic and scientific institutions both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
