The aim of the project is a theoretical analysis and comparation of scientific literature dealing with quality of life of children, parents and caregivers. At present the concept of quality of life is dealt with in the field of psychiatry (Dragomirecka, Skoda) and from the point of view of sociology (Mares). However, its reflexion in academic spheres of special education is still missing. The term "quality of life" is relatively young in the Czech Republic, however, in the Ango-saxon countries it has a long tradition. The study of theoretical scientific works and published research we would attempt to fill in the gap and the outcome of the project would become a basis for original research focusing on quality of life of parents of seriously ill children within the disertation work.
