The project shall elaborate existing projects such as ORION and LIBRA for the purpose of enhancement of doctoral curricula with elements of open science, gender equality, work-life balance and research integrity. The expected impact is to close the skills gap between research employment in academia and beyond academia, the improvement of innovation potential for future PhD candidates, and modernize PhD programmes. The initial idea for the project is adapted to PhD students, but can certainly be transferred and useful to researchers of all career levels. Furthermore, the impact will expand on the joint collaboration between academia and stakeholders within regional ecosystems, by improving skills intelligence, monitoring and closing skills gaps and incorporating upcoming life science labour market trends into the training portfolio. In other words, biotechnology companies can contribute to the STARS system by sharing their skills needs and thus generate the skills intelligence. On the other hand, the universities and institutes respond by creating relevant courses either online or offline (or both) and disseminate them across the STARS network. Last but not least the project shall use training as a mean to deeper integrate core values from existing H2020 projects into the researcher´s mind sets to improve institutional culture as well as employment potential of scientists across interdisciplinary fields and to improve researchers work-life balance and overall employee satisfaction.
