The Biographical Dictionary of European Ethnology should become a basic manual for comparative studies in ethnogenesis, ethnic history and interethnic attitudes in Europe, and consider the influences of the Mediterranean and Pre-Caucasian territory as we ll. It will be the first manual of its kind at all. It will gather, classify and/or evaluate modern information on the founders and other important personalities who created comparative studies in European ethnology. The discipline had developed rather l atent since the 19th century, and became the proper comparative discipline only in the second half of the 20th century, using its newly created and generally accepted title. The dictionary entries will cover biographical data, science orientation charact erizations and the work of selected personalities of 35 European countries involved.
