Artist's Workshop as a "Laboratory" - Drawings of Josef Winterhalder Jr. (1743–1807) (WiDra)

The project's main objective is a comprehensive study of the drawing collection of painter Josef Winterhalder Jr. (1743–1807), partially preserved in the Regional Museum in Olomouc. This hitherto unknown unique set of almost 50 drawings was discovered by the project applicant in 2011 and represent a rare example of drawings used in a daily practice of the painter's workshop. The project will give attention not only to the identification of the purpose of individual designs but also to the used artistic techniques, the painter's handwritten notes or paper watermarks.

An outcome of the project will be a manuscript of a critical catalogue of all preserved drawings and scientific study in English submitted to an international art-historical journal.
