FREEDOM-WIDE will address a core mission of the WIDERA programme: research systems and institutional capacities in Widening countries will gain the strength to act as equal, self-reliant contributors to the European Research Area (ERA).
The project will use the pressing societal challenge of digital well-being and Problematic Use of the Internet (PUI) as a concrete testbed for institutional reform, capacity building and collaborative research. This thematic focus will give Widening institutions a visible, high-relevance arena in which they will apply new governance models, methods and partnerships.
FREEDOM-WIDE will aim to strengthen research systems and institutional capacities in Widening countries through advanced scientific excellence, open science practices and deep societal engagement in the field of digital well-being and PUI, so that participating institutions will evolve into equal contributors to the ERA.
