ORPHEUS envisions making SME cyber resilience achievable through an integrated, operationally oriented service continuum that unifies prevention, incident readiness, and response support into a single interoperable ecosystem. The guiding principle is that sustainable uptake does not emerge from standalone tools that require specialist configuration and interpretation, but from guided workflows that reduce complexity, automate evidence driven decision support, and provide a trusted escalation path when incidents occur. ORPHEUS therefore reframes cybersecurity from a set of episodic controls into an operational capability that can be executed under time pressure by non-specialists, while still producing the consistency, traceability, and accountability required by today’s regulatory and supply chain expectations. In this model, security is continuously maintained as a living operational practice: assets and dependencies are kept visible, exposures are prioritised based on context, and mitigation is structured into feasible actions that align with the SME’s operational constraints rather than generic checklists.
