Description The paper analyses the problems of translation of two geographic names, that are formed from the same base: the Czech toponyms Česko and Čechy and Serbian toponyms Srbija and Srpska. It deals with with the translatological options in Serbian language for the first pair of words and in Czech language for the second pair. It also pays attention to the potentional decisions of this problem in Bulgarian, English and German. The translation of the states names (Česko/Czechia, Srbija/Serbia) is practically without any problem, the historical names (Čechy/Bohemia) or the newly appeared (Srpska) names are sometimes very difficult to be translated.
