Description This paper analyzes the main changes in the constitutional area that occurred during the reign of Octavianus Augustus. Republican offices still formally existed, however, the emperor accumulated real power and created new, imperial offices. Emperor and the lawyers honoured by him later became the authority in procedural law. Although these changes were made gradually and over considerable period of time, together they represented a truly revolutionary change.
