Description The chapter summarizes results of the first part of the project, implemented with the aim of promoting teaching based on the methodology of Global Storylines in the first grades of the Czech primary schools. An important part is research on the attitudes of teachers towards participatory teaching and learning, teaching of global issues, and self – evaluation, in which the point is to capture these attitudes in the course of time, and also to determine how much support teachers need to teach global development issues. Using elements from different instruments to measuring teachers ' competences, we constructed our own tool, and present the results of its first use. Data show that teachers critically reflect on their own teaching, positively evaluate management and acquisition of certain aspects of participatory teaching (give students an opportunity to experience success, listen to pupils’ views, encourage cooperation), while others perceive as own weakness (leading to critical thinking). In addition to the actual content of teaching, the emphasis is also put on the atmosphere in the classroom, the relationship of students to school, teachers, and each other. As a weak point of their work, teachers consider relationships and cooperation with colleagues, both at the level of teaching experience, and at its reflection and evaluation.
