Description The Principality of Liechtenstein represents a special case within the group of European democratic political systems. It has the general characteristics of very small states (wih features of communal politics), the princely family plays an important role in the practical politics, threre are elements of direct democracy and at the same time the political culture is significantly impacted by conservative policy. This combination of monarchist features with elements of direct democracy along with specific characteristics of the Liechtenstein political culture leads to an identification with religion as a natural part of political life.
