Description The paper deals with the difference between supine and infinitive stems in Old Czech, with an explanation of the difference according to the original accentual pattern. The whole system of Czech supine is demonstrated in contrast to supine formations in other Slavic languages, namely Old Church Slavonic, Lower Sorbian and Slovenian. This explanation is based on a modern rhythmicity approach. The different rhytmicity both of supine and infinitive produced the quantitative difference between both formations in Old Czech.
