Description The studies of the different forms of belonging and place attachment to more or less locally bound communities have a long tradition in sociology. This paper represents the findings from the qualitative research on solo-living people and aims to understand the role of the urbanity in their everyday life, practices and narratives. Home is, for the purposes of this study, conceived as the ethnographic context and also as one of the multiscalar concepts of practice that structures our everydayness. Following the critical geography home formulated by Blunt and Dowling, we understand the city as one of the major scales on which the home can be experienced, articulated and lived. We identify three ways of home attachment of solo-living people: home as a choice, home as a project and the home as an experience. Furthermore, we show the ambivalent role of the urban experiences that are connected both with enjoyment and pleasures, at the same time, however, it can activate the negative experiencing of the solo-living or single partnership status.
