| Description | The relationship of Jan Patočka to belles-lettres is analyzed on the basis of his studies on K. H. Mácha, Josef Čapek and Jaroslav Durych. Patočka analyzes the relationship between philosophy, poetry and belles-lettres in general, the relationship between a philosopher and a poet and novelist, the relationship of poetry and belles-lettres to philosophy. He defines the difference between a poet and a philosopher in the perception of the world and thoughts. Philosophers seeks firm and coherent worldview while poets rely on subjectively characterized poetic experience. |
