| Description | Capital of the empire, ecclesiastical metropolis of first order, important common and medieval lordship, Milan develops on the very longe durée. In recent decades, this stratification - Historical, cultural and material - has been studied extensively. Very rarely, however, the Milanese heritage was read in a self-referential perspective: this perspective, central in the medieval mentality, is fundamental for a city like Milan, where tradition becomes guarantor of the key role that the city cyclically wants to take. The intention of this conference is precisely to read Milan through this self-referential prism. |
