| Description | The 2012 excavation at Dolní Věstonice yielded complementary evidence on the settlement structure at the site DV-IIa located at the upper (southernmost) part of the larger settlement complex DV-II. The most important feature is a complex multilayer hearth which provided a sequence of AMS dates from the individual microlayers. Analyses of pollen, charcoal, malacofauna, vertebrate fauna, lithic industry, and clay fragments complete the picture of MIS3 landscape, chronology and microchronology of settlement structures. Together with the new evidence from Pavlov I, the DV-IIa dates represent the earliest Gravettian horizons in our region. |
