Description The aim of this study was to compare isometric strength of the upper extremities in the Czech population. Only the dominant upper extremity in 406 women from all over the Czech Republic was tested. The tested subjects were at least 18 years old or older. The values of isometric strength were obtained using a hand-held dynamometry test (digital hand dynamometer). The results indicate that isometric force of the dominant upper extremity increases in women younger than 49 years, but since the age of 50 years we observe a rather sharp decline. The documented results may be associated with increasing body weight in the age categories between 18-49 years. The highest average value (34.3 kg) was found in the age group 40-49 years, in the following category (50-59 years), isometric strength drops sharply (28 kg). The largest decrease in isometric force (6.3 kg) was found between age groups was 40-49 and 50-59 years. The lowest values were measured according to the assumption in the category of 70 years and above - 22.7 kg.
