Description Glioma is a common type of primary brain intraaxial tumors. This is a broad group of tumors that differ in their typical localization, age predisposition, morphology, degree of malignancy and the tendency to progression. On the basis of the WHO classification with grading system are divided into two basic groups: glioma low grade malignancy (low grade glioma - LGG) and glioma high grade of malignancy (high grade glioma - HGG). These two groups in between vary considerably in their biological characteristics and thus the overall prognosis of the patient. Among the basic capabilities of their therapies include surgical resection followed by radiation thera and chemotherapy. In the article are analyzed the possibilities and limitations of these various modalities of treatment for LGG and HGG.
