| Description | The article focuses on Pierre Boulez's position on the issue of timbre, which is presented in his theoretical texts "Musikdenken heute" and "Alea". These positions are presented as one of the reasons for the descent of Boulez's serialism as an avant-garde or modernist method in the late 1950s and early 1960s. At the same time the article points out that serial techniques are not necessarily intrinsically contradictory with music that is oriented on the timbre aspect, and offers proof that serial techniques have found application in timbre-oriented music. |
